NPR: Driving Naked To Austin

My story about the time in the 80’s I drove to Austin naked and the cops found “drugs” in my car (originally recorded live as part of Kevin Allison’s Risk!, at 92Y Tribeca in NYC) is airing on NPR’s new storytelling program Snap Judgment this week, as part of their Road Trip show. Check the show’s website (or NPR’s) for terrestrial stations (it airs in NYC on WNYC), or you can download the podcast of the show on iTunes (show #209, Road Trip). A much longer, written version of the story can be found here.
UPDATE: Here’s the audio of the show on Snap Judgement’s website (I’m at the 18:30 mark, or you can scroll down for just my story) or, here’s the iTunes link for the podcast (show #209, Road Trip).

See a resemblance? Linda Simpson ponders the subject.

I’m sorry, but that miniature horse Einstein is obviously some sort of witch that needs to be hunted and burned at the stake asap. Look at it! #evil #7thsign #666 #nomoreroominhell

Have you seen Einstein, the world’s smallest horse yet? I suggest skipping your morning LSD tab before doing so.

Applied gobs of heavy mascra in mirror and made trails down my cheeks like I’d been crying all day, then acted startled when Jim got home. I’m such a jokester.

As an artist, don’t ever waste your time trying to impress the one or two coolest people in the room. Always aim just below them… and beyond.

I hate the way trains pull sooo slowly into that endless passage at Grand Central when approaching Manhattan, eeking to a tedious stop. The conductor should just floor it. The best way to arrive in NYC is stumbling out of twisted wreckage, covered in blood.

Jim & I were looking at new properties yesterday. I don’t think we’ll be taking this place, where an “outdoor Thanksgiving sushi serenade still life” greeted us at the front door.

I’m not self-involved, but I have to process that whole “it’s best not to meet your idols” let-down thing every time I masturbate.
